Ryder was so used to his abode that he sometimes forgot the effect it could have on one who wasn't used to it. As Aspyn finally spoke, Ryder turned to face her and grinned at her. "You're a teenage girl," he said with that wry smile that was his trademark. "I'm sure you won't mind your privacy." Heading back down the stairs towards the kitchen, he knew she must have been starving. Hell, HE was starving and he wasn't the one stuck in the police station all night. The open set up of his home allowed his voice to easily travel to her as she took in the house.
"I'm making something to eat," he called without looking back at her. "Please tell you aren't a vegetarian or a vegan or any of that hippie shit." He stopped at the bottom of the stairs and turned back to face her. She was going to need new clothes, and well...everything. But that would wait until tomorrow. For now...
"Why don't you take a hot shower while I make us something to eat? I'll leave some of my pajamas for you to wear around the house. We'll have to go shopping tomorrow, get you girl clothing." Satisfied at her answer, Ryder did what he said he would, finding a pair of small (ish) lounge pants and a white tee shirt, and left them in her room on the bed.
Ryder was still operating on instinct and his ability to adapt to almost any situation. And as he moved around the kitchen, it sank into his head that his niece was here in NML and she was stuck here. The anger he felt towards his no good sister and the government had him feeling like he was ready to explode. Or break something. Instead he dialed Areo's number and got his answering machine.
"Call me back," he said his voice even. "It's important." Hanging up the phone he continued his cooking, making grilled cheese with bacon, and muttering incoherently to himself as he waited for Aspyn to rejoin him.
