Romance loved to shop. And she LOVED to shop with her older sister. It was one of the things she loved about being home. And San Fran was still home, even though she had been going to school for a few years in San Diego. She had friends and a life there. And better yet, there was no Rodare. The rat presence there was minimal, so there was no one to harass her. And she loved school. Loved it all so much. But she missed her sister. She missed her sister like crazy and they were always so close, they talked almost everyday on the phone.
The meeting had been announced yesterday, and technically Ro was part of the clan. After the great shopping trip, Ro thought her sister was acting a little more like her normal self, rather then this woman who was so in pain, so angry, so upset over the death of her mate and being given to another. Still dressed in the white and blue tunic dress she had fallen in love with a few weeks ago in Santa Cruz, she and Tragedy had arrived at the meeting early. Ro ignored the looks she received from the members of the Rodare. Most had adapted to Xavier's way of life with their style of dress now. And everyone had the tattoo he had requested they get. Ro herself had one, on her left hip the elegant silhouette of a rat, with the clan name under it in elegant calligraphy.
She had met the Rat King, Xavier, and he scared her. Not in a way that she was able to put her finger on, maybe it was something in the way he looked at her. Like she was his prize. He had made more then a few passes at her, all of which she had graciously declined in the most respectful way. Her sister had been urging her to leave as soon as possible, to go back to school. But her semester had ended a few weeks ago, and she had given up her on campus housing.
Tucking a strand of long shimmering brown hair behind her ear, she sat next to her sister on an elegant burgundy settee, her long legs crossed as she leaned back comfortably, awaiting the kings arrival. She was talking animatedly with her sister and another girl of the Rodare when X walked in. All eyes were on him, and not just because he was their king and he oozed power. He also oozed sexuality. He effected Ro in a way she tried to ignore, because she did not want to be the Rodare's Queen. She wanted a life, and to help people, and love. She wanted love.
X lounged more like a cat then a rat in his throne-like chair. Someone brought him a drink as he asked for it, and he spoke again. He was picking a Queen. Ro had heard the rumors, heard that X was playing the field, but that he had practically already declared Eva his queen. She had a small glass of red wine in her hand, which she sipped as the murmurs died down. Her green and gold eyes were on the King, as was everyone else's waiting for him to continue.
