Romance watched the various emotions spread over the Rat King's face, as he weighed her words and her request. Finally he spoke, giving her the day she asked for. The rest of his words barely made it through the feeling of relief Romance felt, but she nodded submissively at him as he warned her of the consequences if she tried to run away. "Of course, Xavier," she said softly. He growled at her out of frustration and she stepped back to him, to press a soft kiss to the corner of his lips.
"Thank you," she said softly, and turned to leave, making her way upstairs, to the guest bedroom. An older rat woman was upstairs, cleaning and puttering around. "I'll send for some of your things," Henrietta informed her as she continued to straighten up the guest room. "'don't know what it is about you Moore women and attracting kings," she muttered as she beckoned the younger woman into the bathroom, where a warm bubble bath was waiting for her, candles lit, their soft scents and soothing flickering light already putting Ro's raw nerves at ease. She slid her panties off and slipped into the warm water, the scent of the familiar waterlily bubbles, making her think of home and her mother. Each of the Moore girls had their own signature scent, and her mother had chosen waterlily for Ro when she was much younger. Henrietta, clucked at her as her tears began.
"Oh stop that, stop that now I tell you," she scolded. "tisn't a fate worsen death, chickie." Bustling around the room, the almost ancient woman readied some towels for Ro when she was done, fluffing them as she spoke. "He's an attractive one, and powerful. You'll see, you'll come to accept it." Facing the younger woman, Henrietta shook her head at her. "You know how it tis. You Moore women are like drugs to Rat Kings." Shaking her head again, she left the room, already talking on her cellphone to arrange for Ro's stuff to be moved into Xavier's house. The young woman relaxed within the warm water, allowing her mind to wander and relax, even as she could hear X leaving the house.
About forty minutes later, and Romance was out of the bath, wrapped in a towel as Henrietta laid out the handful of clothing she had gotten from the young girl she had sent to get her something. It was a bit sexier then she would have chosen herself, but it matched and was here. The alternative was to search through X's things to find a t-shirt or a dress shirt that she could wear. But that was too intimate for her, and the idea of their scents mingling...it would be too much of a temptation for him.
Dressing quietly, she slid into the guest bed, and reached for her cell, calling her sister to tell her she was fine, what had happened and that he was giving her some time. After reassuring Tragedy that she was fine, she hung up and fell asleep, within minutes.
