Cyrus held up one hand as if he were swearing on...well some sort of important book. "No biting," he agreed. As she continued he smiled at her teasingly. "Define vampire trickery," he quipped. "I promise not to attempt to roll you or bespell you, or do any other crazy vampy thing regular vampires do." He couldn't make any promises about the weirdo visions he hadn't told her about, it wasn't like he had any control over any of those things anyway. Signaling the driver to move on, Cyrus slid his arm to rest on the back of the carriage behind Makayla's shoulders, gently touching her shoulders, his hand gentle on her shoulder.
"I cannot however promise not to use my wit and charm to convince you a second date is a good idea," he said with a smile. As the carriage moved on, he leaned forward to the driver.
"Skip the tour." The driver nodded, making a turn down a side road. Sometimes it was easy to forget how dangerous the city of San Francisco actually was now. Most of the human punks had been killed by the were's or vamps in the struggle for power in the city, so the most dangerous thing was occasional rogue still wandering or the lone vampire who had yet to be tied to the MOTC.
To fill the silence, Cyrus continued to talk about the book he had bought from Makayla and which stories he liked, as the carriage wound through the city, nearing the shoreline. Stopping at a boardwalk, Cyrus hopped out of the carriage and held his hand out to May.
"You haven't even seen the best part," he told her as he helped her out of the carriage. The driver would wait for them, he did after all work for the MOTC. They walked down onto the white sand, towards twinkling lights down the beach. As they neared it was easy to see there had been a trellis of flowers and white lights on strings strung up on poles illuminating a white picnic blanket set with a basket and soft violin music playing from a music player on the edge of the blanket.
"I hope your not a vegetarian," he said with another heartbreaking smile. "If you are, I can pick the chicken out of your salad."
