Her hand in his was warm. He had eaten prior to picking her up, so he had a heartbeat and felt almost as warm as her. Not quite, but it was something to make himself appear more human, make her a little more relaxed. He smiled at her as she put the over the top bouquet into some water in a plastic fast food cup.
"I think it looks perfect there," he commented as she turned off the lights and led him outside. Once outside, Cyrus offered her his arm, like a gentleman and led the way.
"Our date is top secret," he told her in a stage whisper. He had paid one of the servants at the hotel to set up the place on the beach as he had specified. And he had checked on it before he had gone to pick Makayla up. As they rounded a corner, he stopped and feigned surprise as they came into view of a white horse and carriage, complete with driver who were obviously waiting for them.
"Imagine that," he whispered to her, his lips against her ear. "We might as well make use of this, don't you think?" His tone and smile belied that he had planned this. He offered her a hand to step up into the carriage.
"First, a tour of No Man's Land, in all its splendid glory," he announced. "Or at least the back roads not claimed by gun wielding psychos and territorial were-things." He grinned. "So pretty much the Master's claimed territory. On the way to our final destination."
