Glancing over to Maiyuki, his chest felt like it were to explode at any second. Last night was too good, and today was supposed to be his way of showing her that he genuinely cared for her--whether it be healthy or not. Turning back around after Hideki called him that name, his eyes widened, and turned a beet red. No one had called him that for at least a couple of months, and to hear that coming from another man, especially his boss, it was unheard of. As the name came from someone less reputable.
Listening in further, he turned his head halfway to glance over to a possibly infuriated Maiyuki, he sighed and nodded a bit. "How about you call when you need me to pick you up. You spend time with her." Of course Keichi was being selfish, but so far, Hideki didn't sound too injured, and perfectly safe where he was. The entire background noise. . .had the feel of home. Taking a deep breath at the mention of worrying too much, he slipped his hand to the back of his red hair, scratching the back of his head.
Indeed, it was true that Kei worried way too much for his own good, but he had things. . .people to protect, and this was his family now. "I know. I have my reasons. Just. . .don't call me by that name again, ne?" he glanced over, hoping Maiyuki didn't hear that, and muttered into the phone. "I mean it! Call when you want picked up!"
Clicking the phone shut and sliding it into his back pocket he smiled, the faint flush still over his face, and he covered his mouth to cough into it, looking ahead at the beginnings of the festival. Taking Maiyuki's hand gently, he tilted his head while he cleared his throat. "Ready?"
