The End of an Era; Hideki, Gendo, & Marcus Lombardi.
"Heh...don't worry about me. You did a good job, Gen," Hideki responded, sliding his fingers into the cut in his shirt. The gash underneath was about half an inch deep, and while he'd had worse, it was bleeding quite a bit. Hideki bit back another curse. Gendo didn't need anything to think about other than getting himself out of the hot zone. He could worry about Hideki later, when he was back wherever it was Gendo went doing whatever it was Gendo usually did when Hideki wasn't putting him in life-threatening situations alongside himself.
Well, it could have been worse. Hideki grimaced as he began to unbutton his shirt. When he was finished, he tied it around his waist, over the cut.
"Oh, I think I know where I can spend a few hours." He let out an ironic, hardly amused laugh. "Mom will be so happy to see me, don't you think?"
At least there would be plenty of first aid materials there, and he'd get to spend a few unexpected hours with Tomiko. Hideki shook his head alone in the alley. Most fathers thought about bringing their children to the parade and festival...and here he'd killed a father instead. Sometimes he wished Tomi would never grow up, if only so he didn't have to explain the complication of all this shit to her.
"I'll check in in a few hours," he said finally. "Over and out."
