The End of an Era; Hideki, Gendo, & Marcus Lombardi.
It was only when Gendo asked Hideki if he was all right that Hideki actually took stock of himself. He was out of breath, and that was the most pressing matter. His heart was thudding in his chest like a marble being rolled around a plastic bowl, and that was the second--the adrenaline was causing both, and it was also making his thoughts race. "Hold on a second," he said a little more calmly this time.
He listened to the sound of the sirens in the distance, trying to tell if they were getting any closer to Main Street or not, though it was difficult. "Did you see any cops?" he asked Gendo, peeking around a corner and into the nearest cross street. It was empty. "That was an awfully quick resp---ah, fuck!"
As he'd moved back into his former position, Hideki felt a sharp pain in his side. Pressing his hand to the thin fabric revealed a dark, wet stain and another metallic shock of injury. Somehow in the excitement...but that meant..someone must have seen him.
Hideki grunted. That was only a possibility, one that wasn't for certain. What was certain was that he was injured--pretty fairly, it seemed--and the longer he waited to tell Gendo, the closer the cops got and the harder it would be for Gendo to get out. His thoughts went again at rapid-fire.
"I'm injured. Get your ass out of that building--I'll get back when things have died down."
