So, something big was happening today, and Aeva knew it. "It" had been publicized twenty times over at her school, so how could she miss it!? Many of her classmates had plans to drive up there themselves, but Aeva really didn't want to attend. She didn't exactly grasp the concept of mourning over something so beautiful as death. Growing up, and communicating mostly with the valarians on her home planet, Zevaldar, Aeva was every accustomed to the way that Valarians typically die. Like beautiful, rare African flowers, their petals and leaves do a shimmer of violent blues, reds, yellows, purples and oranges before finally they wither and fall to the floor. So, being half Valarian, Aeva had always wondered how she was going to die... exactly.
Her mother was human, and from Earth. She understood that, and she acknowledges the wrinkles, as a testament of maturity and wisdom. Something she was taught to appreciate and respect, as her mother grew older. A form of getting others to approve of, without Aeva really catching on to it. It was a smart move on her mother's behalf, definitely.
Aeva held the remote in her hand, the whole time she watched people slowly move like a soft sea onto the property. It took forever, and it incredibly bore her to death, even so she WANTED to turn the channel, and watch the commercials on progresso soup, and the little lizard. (Yes, the Geico Lizard was still around, and had a Jamaican accent instead of his current British one.) After about a good five minutes, she turned it back to find not much movement had been made in the wave as expected. This was like a concession stand/intermission thing with her. She got up, and repositioned her heat lamp to perch right on top of the recliner. Setting the lamp for a good 90 degrees, and getting a nice spray bottle for her skin, she was presently surprised that the service was beginning to start.
"About tiimmmmmmeeeeeeeeeee ooooeeooooeeooouuu!" She busted out in a sweet serenade, that quite possibly only a deaf man would love. She watched intently, and waited for something fun to happen. Anything. a gun being pulled out, a massacre, something humans are typically known to do. But, just when she was leaning into the television at the very last speech (she knew something should be going down) the phone rang. Aeva-Lynn jumped, threw her head back and knocked it against the heat lamp, causing it to fall on the floor. After hitting the lamp with her head, she accidentally threw the remote against the wall, causing a fractured indention mark in it. The girl probably shouldn't have turned on the heat lamp. "Sur'plu-or'-ghasty!" She cussed in Valarian, patting the top of her head to make sure her illusion hadn't caught a fire.
"Huh--Huh--HellloooOoooOoo!?" Aeva yelled angrily into the phone, making rather disgruntled and pissed faces at it. It always had to ring.
"Aeva dear! Are you watching the funeralll?" Said Lila Cheney, her mother.
"I was until you called me, Mommy! How are you watching it? Aren't you in the Sahara with Daddy?" She questioned, tilting her head and the phone to the side.
"You know how hot it gets over there! I'm currently visiting Los Angeles for the day. I've always wanted to return." Lila said, with an audible background conversation behind her.
"Oh........." Aeva paused, her thinking slowed due to lack of heat. "Oooh, well, thank you Mommy for calllinnngg -- I go watch television now." She always seemed to resort back into a 10 year old, when this happened. "I love you!!!" She said softly, before clicking the phone, removing any attempt for her mother to return the same praise.
Throwing the phone to the side, she turned around and looked at the damage.
All this.. over a damn, boring funeral show.
... she should have TV'oed it.
