Kenzie normally thought silence to be a comfortable thing with him, but right now it was worrisome. She wished she could figure out what was going in in his head. At first her heart felt like it was sinking because of his words, but then he said he was willing to try and it all melted away again with the relief that came. The sadness that had been there the past week or so slowly began to ebb away.
"I'm not going to say no. You make me really happy more often than anything else, and it's been awful not having you in my life." She leaned forward to gently press her lips to his. "And in about a month I'll be graduated, he'll be graduated, and hopefully he won't be able to get to you so much." She wasn't looking forward to the next year, to being apart for so long, but it was better than the alternative.
