The ballroom is in an old hotel in London, the Estonian. For Muggle eyes, it looks as though it's a derelict old hotel that was blasted away during World War II. No one knows why it was never fixed up, but they say it's haunted, that they can HEAR people inside. Once wizards step across the threshold into the outdoor courtyard, however, you can see the hotel as it is. Grand, lit with twinkling lights (after nightfall) a boasting of the stiffest hotel staff around. The Grand Ballroom is where the Charity Ball is held. There are tables of people answering questions on the charities. Chasers for Charity, Seekers for Sanctuary, Keepers for Kontributions, and Beaters for Benefaction have been around since Quidditch has been around, and they will tell you exactly where all of their money goes, etc. There's a band playing, as well as ice sculptures of famous Quidditch players all around. They're all enchanted as well. Snitches circle above the crowd with twinkling lights. |
There will be house elves and wizard-kind serving drinks of all sorts and hors d'oeurves. You're welcome to eat and drink, chit-chat, dance. There are reporters there to interview anyone they consider famous enough, and photographs will be taken all over the place. You might end up in the paper tomorrow. ;) |
During the dinner, the speeches will take place. Each charity's public relations and/or president will come forward and talk about what they've done for the year, how they've spent their money, what they hope to accomplish in the future. No questions can be asked during the speeches, please. Save those for before or after. |
Finally, when the speeches and the meal are done, you are all free to go back to chit-chatting, dancing, or going to any of the potential after parties. The band will play on until well after midnight, and there's more than enough desserts to stuff in your pocket. |
