Mari's face scrunched up a little in irritation, but just as suddenly she returned to a neutral expression.
"My family..the Neramani bloodline is prone to various mental disorders," she began, trying to take a clinical approach to it. "Both my mother and uncle were born with tendencies toward insanity. I was fortunate not to have that, but..I was not immune to our bloodline's tendency toward..issues." She took a breath, fighting her discomfort for speaking about it. It was part of her and something she had come to accept, but that didn't mean she was ever completely fine with speaking about it. "For me, I have great difficulty with the degree of emotional responses. Something mildly heartwarming may elicit tears, while stubbing my toe may lead to tearing out a chunk of wall in frustration." She blushed deep red at that admission. "When she promised not to eat the whole cake, a momentary hint of suspicion, which most would dismiss, temporarily flared to a higher level," she explained.
