One of the perks of having an invulnerable organic red diamond form was you managed to be safe from sudden electrical surges. At least, that’s what Emerson thought as he watched sparks of electricity dance across the knuckles of his left hand.
“Please stop that,” he snapped at the dormant, twenty-foot robot he was tinkering with. it didn’t reply, and Emerson hadn’t expected it to. It wasn’t as though the thing had been revitalized yet. But soon, he promised himself. Colosso had been a pet project of Emerson’s for a couple of weeks now, ever since he’d been able to pull him out of storage and drag him to the lab. The delightfully antiquated robot hadn’t been used since the early days of the X-Men’s history, but he felt it would be a good idea to get him up and running, and use him for training purposes. Loathe as Emerson was to get physical with any opponent, he didn’t have much of a choice, given his mutation. So, he was going to have to hone his skill, whether he liked it or not.
Besides, if his mom could step out of a Dior suit to righteously kick the ass of a Purifier, surely Emerson could do the same.
Thinking he had the wiring in Colosso’s shoulder set, he hopped off the ladder he was standing on and grabbed the large, practically obsolete golden remote that controlled the hulking purple thing. He tried to switch to turn Colosso on, and for a moment, it seemed to work. Its bright yellow eye gleamed with light, and Emerson could hear its insides whir to life. Emerson’s smile was short-lived, though. Colosso powered down after barely five seconds.
Emerson sighed, shook his head, and opened up the back panel on the robot. There had to be a way to make him functional again, and he was going to find out how, no matter what.
