What: He invited her on a hike.
When: Evening 5 June.
Where: Her apartment and then their hike.
Status|Rating: Tbd & In Progress.
Predictably the weather was fairly nice, especially for June, which meant that Austin wasn’t trying excessively hard to figure out what to wear for a hike up the mountain trail. Actually most of what she did to get ready after he invited her was shower because she’d been doing rounds at the hospital most of the morning in case there was a need. Though in a small town there was rarely a need unless someone was in labor. Fortunately today there wasn’t one and after her rounds were over Austin left the hospital, though they knew to page her if she was needed. She worked 24/7. If she wasn’t in the hospital or in her office, she was still on call. It was why she didn’t mind going out and doing something with Terence. He knew if she got paged or called, she had to leave even if she didn’t want to. He’d understand and likely wouldn’t be offended. Though by now he had to know that she would make it up to him somehow. So, after drying off, Austin put on clean clothes and went to toss her scrubs in her apartment’s tiny washer. They weren’t necessarily dirty but Austin was one of those people that, if she was touching patients, she didn’t want to drag anything they might have home and back again. So she stripped once home and washed her clothes immediately. Excessive yes, but it kept her healthy. Austin had left her door unlocked, she’d told Terence as such so she hadn’t exactly been paying attention or waiting for someone to knock on the door. Despite his reputation and things that she knew about him from others, she trusted him. Terence wasn’t the same man with her that he seemed to be with other people. It was part of why she hated his choices so much. Even if he didn’t want to settle down, to be with her, he was a better man than he acted and she didn’t understand why he didn’t see that and want more for himself, it frustrated her. Leaving the small closet area, she shut the door and headed into her living room in time to offer Terence a big smile. “You got here faster than I thought you would.” Austin, without any real thought about it, all but jumped in his arms in a hug before she let him go and gave him space back. “I have my pager and my phone so we should be good to go if you’re ready. Oh...which trail are we hiking or is this something new you haven’t shown me yet?” |
