Where Dax's house
What Comforting her after a hard day
When After this
Rating TBD, low probably
Hearing that Penny had a truly awful day immediately made Dax want to fix it. He couldn't help it. He had always been that way. He couldn't take away the death of her patient, so the next best thing was to try and make her day better. He had just finished his shopping when she messaged him, but he wasn't too far from the store so he doubled back and picked her up a bouquet of flowers, hoping that maybe it would brighten her spirits. Losing a patient was hard. He might never understand, but he got it, so he would do the best he could to help make her night at least a little better. The old ladies who saw her somewhat frequently (and him, coincidentally) were a little obsessed with getting them together. Dax couldn't deny that she was pretty, but he also knew that something had happened to her before she came to New Haven. He didn't know what exactly. He hadn't asked because that was such a personal conversation, but he didn't want to push a boundary she might not want pushed. He didn't like talking about his past so it was safe to assume others might not like talking about theirs. He arrived home in time to put his groceries away and put the bouquet in a vase when he heard the knock on his door. He set them on his dining room table and opened the door, offering her a smile when he saw her. The town said they were all equal but Dax was sure the healthcare workers did more than anyone else. They never really had days off because if they were needed they had to go and even if they had the option of saying no, they wouldn't. He knew she wouldn't and all the others he'd encountered were likely of the same mind. It was amazing, considering some of the enforcers were lazy as hell. "Hey pretty lady," he said with a smile, stepping aside to let her in. "Come on in and I will get to cheering you up. Would yo like to start with wine or are you hungry too?" |
