"We will love again,
proud in the face of hatred.
We will outshine it."
— Daily Haiku on Love by Tyler Knott Gregson

I know this is belated, but between the lovely, impassioned words of Frank Ocean, and the gorgeous sounds of Broadway luminaries raising their voices in song, I've been trying to find ways to give back.

I've donated money, contacted my representatives, supported the filibuster by letting my senators know, and even now I've made sure to text 'DEMAND ACTION' to 644-33 to call my rep so I could support the sit in, yet gun reform continues to be stalled. As someone who owns and knows how to handle guns, I'm at a loss. There's so much more we should be doing, both in regards to people being able to get guns and when it comes to everyones' favourite scapegoat - the state of mental health initiatives in the country. It's ridiculous, there needs to be change.

Não importa o que, o amor deve prevalecer.

I'm keeping up on the sit in that's going on right now at the House. My crush on John Lewis knows no bounds, likewise with Nancy Pelosi. It's awful irony that a shooting happened around the same time as this started but it's more fuel to the frustrating fire.

I'm watching the news about that as well, and all I can hope is that with everything else going on the world some common sense manages to work its' way into the heads of those opposing the need for more strictness.

16 hours and counting. Too bad Paul Ryan had to be a whiney baby and adjourn until the 5th.

The great thing about these kinds of events is they show how serious the Democrats are taking all this.

Definitely. It's about time some politicians thought with their heads instead of their pocketbooks.

I saw somewhere that a poll showed 90% of Americans supported gun control. Even if that is skewed you'd think it would be hard to ignore.

Truth, though they're too concerned about the kickbacks they'd be losing to think beyond that.

That's why it's imperative that we contact our representatives, make our voices heard. Let them know we won't continue to vote for them if they don't keep our best interests at heart.

Money gets you elected and keeps you in office. It's a vicious cycle.

Unfortunately I'm not sure how much difference it makes but I'm all for trying. Can't hurt to try in this case.

As vicious of a cycle as it is, at least we know how to end it.

Yes, definitely try. Regardless of whether you think it will make a difference or not, doing something is far better than doing nothing.

So very true.

Already done. Nothing can change if you don't even try.

Actions speak louder.

Excellent. I'd hate to have to make you do something, especially since I've never been the forceful type.

Without a doubt.

No need to in this case. Your reputation is safe ;)

I'm glad you agree.

Well good, since my reputation is all I have. ;)

This is probably where I say 'great minds think alike' but that feels a bit narcissistic.

Uh huh sure. Are you trying to be like 'those' people now? :P

Just a little.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'those' people, so I can't answer that. >_>

Kinda what I thought.

Hell I'm not even sure who I meant so we'll just leave it at that.

Alrighty, then.
