Well, I certainly did not see that twist coming on 'The Walking Dead'... though it definitely caps off a rather brilliant weekend.

I think I'll make coq a vin for dinner tomorrow, and tres leches for dessert, as it's been a while since I tried cooking something ambitious.

[Private to Professor Lupo]
Sir, what do you know about my fellow Assessor, Stephen Harper?

MY LIPS ARE SEALED. Though once you're caught up, come find me.

As long as you promise NOT to make sweets before I show up.

I can forego the sweets and instead make some healthy snacks. I've been trying to lose a few pounds anyway.

She says, without mentioning that it's totally her fault we're behind.

Excuse me, not just all my fault. Satan has had some hand in that.

I'm still going to go with 'your fault'.

Seems fair. It is more entertaining for you that way. Are we going to find time to catch up or is your dance card full this week?

Pick a night. We'll marathon.

Well, since we're free Thursday night, how about then? TWD and essays?

I'm in. Are you making boring snacks, or have you stopped freaking out about your ass yet?

SHUT UP, LAINEY.
Boring snacks. Maybe popcorn.

I demand butter-salt stuff, or I'm making brownies.

Also, do you use the traditional thighs for your coc au vin? I just hate the texture of them.

I actually use the Ina Garten method where I cut a whole chicken into eight sections. I've found it works out better texture-wise.

Seems much more appealing.

Letting them marinate overnight and most of the day also gets the meat nice and tender.

You know, I've heard different things? That marinating for two full days is key. That marinating more than 12 hours is ineffective.

Conflicting accounts.

I usually let mine go for between sixteen and eighteen hours. It's worked for me in the past.

I've seen a lot of different recipes too.

Mr. Harper? I can't say that I know too much about him on a personal level, but he is a very nice and charming young lad. Why do you ask dear?

He asked me if I wanted to go to Boston with him this weekend, and I'm weighing whether I should or not.

If you have concerns and would like to get to know the young man better, then might I suggest a gathering on mutual grounds? If you would like my presence there for comfort, I would be happy to oblige. Then you may determine if he is worth an entire weekend away.

I do have concerns, regarding the reasons for his interest. He claims it's because I'm pretty and don't flip out at everything he says, but I have trouble buying that there aren't others out there who fit his standards. Perhaps recent expernces have left me a touch jaded, though. Maybe dinner at your place is in order... I'll think on it.
