Mike O'Hare ([info]techpreacher) wrote in [info]newdublinrp,
When it came to wielding a blade or driving a car Mike seemingly possessed grace and a level of skill that few had managed to master. Yet dancing wasn't something the man had ever really tried before. Especially not since losing his leg in that explosion. So when she mentioned being worried about it, and about being embarrassed, he sighed softly and tried to find a way to help her get out of dealing with that kind of thing. As she grabbed a slice and leaned back at last Rigs finally nodded, mostly to himself, before picking up his phone and placing a call.

"Hey there...yeah it's me. Sorry for calling out of the blue but I was hoping you'd be able to help me with something. I know how excited you and Mama Murphy are about the dance at the wedding but...well I feel bad asking this, but do you think we can skip that first dance thing and just jump right into letting everyone else dance? I know Jimmy's looking forward to it, but my leg...yeah, the rehab's going well, but the pains been pretty bad....yeah? Thanks. I owe you one. I'll talk to you later." With a slight smile Mike hung up at the phone, and after tossing it back beside him the man reached over to grab a slice of pizza for himself. Only after taking and chewing a bite did he finally glance over at her, and with a little wink O'Hare spoke up at last. "Your mom insisted we skip the first dance. Said she wouldn't dream of letting me do it if I could hurt myself more."

Losing a limb or two was horrible, but there were apparently at least a few perks to be found. And leave it to Mike, and that charming tone of his, to somehow convince the matriarchs that it was their idea that the first dance not take place. "Looks like you're off the hook for the classes and shit. Though safe bet I'll have to deal with the mothers checking in on me a bit more for a little while."
