"I would totally marry you right now... but you know we would never hear the end of it." It was more than just a tradition or something the family expected. It was expected as a member of the SSR family meant more than anything and something like a wedding was a sacred occasion. Sure, there was the occasional Rat who'd done a quickie wedding on a drunken night when they were are an away race in another city, but for someone like Mike or Jimmy alone, each connected to Murphy's in their own right. If it were just one of them it would be a mess, but the fact they were marrying each other with those connections- they really didn't have a choice.
So while they made light about the scolding they would get, consequences could actually be a lot harsher... just no one was gonna say it. "What are the odds you think I can convince Ma to let me wear a white suit?" She asked with a grin, oh she knew the answer but had to make light of it or the nerves would overwhelm her.
"And speaking of 'thresholds', how's Brisket doing?" Since their engagement Jimmy had been sort of only seen Mike at work and the Murphy's as her mother had insisted they 'behave' before their wedding. How it wasn't right she was always over at his place when they weren't married. Granted before the engagement she just chose to ignore it. It was honestly ridiculous. "It's been like a week since I've been over to see her. She still getting along with Mutt?"
