Merritt's apartment was styled in a similar way as the temporary one Zel had been staying at, but it was a bit smaller. It was two stories, the first story being the living area with a tiny kitchen and upstairs was a small office and bedroom and the only bathroom. It wasn't much, but it was nice and considering he did spend a lot of time at the office, it's not like it mattered much.

By the time Zel arrived he was sipping at his second drink of the night. He was still dressed in the suit he'd work at work, though the tie had been loosened. Merr opened the door for Zel before she actually knocked- he just knew she was there. "Come in." He said, gesturing.

It didn't take Zel long to get to Merritts place Instead of using the train, she took her bike. Seeing how it would be faster. She'd literally been spending a lot of her time with Jason, which wasn't a bad thing. But these two had some things to figure out about their friendship. Once she approached the door, and he came to open it, she held a smile. "Hey, Mer-Bear." She said giving him the goofy nickname.

Once inside, she came to stop and look around for the moment. Least, he had a couch. She said to herself as she snickered for the moment. Still, once inside she came to move towards his couch as she took a seat. "So...." She wasn't entirely sure how to even start this.

"I'm not sure how to start either." He said, pouring a second drink and offering it to her. Merr didn't even realize she'd not stated her full thought. "Maybe start with figuring out what was real- if it all was?" He took a seat on the other side of the L of the couch. "I mean I honestly don't remember a time that I didn't know you." He laughed a little. "That's weird right?"

"About as weird as finding out your imaginary friend is real." She said as she took the drink from him and sipped. She wasn't much of a drinker, but she had learned to tolerate it because of him. "Whatever.... You saw me going through is real..." She said slightly, as she took a bigger gulp from that glass. Her frame sitting back on the couch for the moment. Her hair, for the time being, was red, as emerald eyes came to stare at Merritt.

She came to nod her head as she thought for the moment. "I was scared. Granted I've been through worse, but it was different this time. I think because Jason was there." She said softly. "And then I kept calling for you, and suddenly you were there. You stayed with me as much as you could." She said as she came to place her hand on his knee.

"That helped keep me calm." She said with a slight nod of her head. "But we need to figure this...Whatever this thing is between us and how to use it."

Or how to turn it off. "It's happened before though, not just when we're scared... I remember being a kid and you were there almost all the time. And now..." Merr looked at her, his head tilted slightly. "Do things feel, like, more intense when we're in the same place?" It sounded absurd, as he spoke he heard it and it sounded crazy. The fact that any of this had happened seemed crazy.

"You also started taking meds." She said as she brushed her hair from her face as she came to look at him for the moment. "And yeah... The feeling it more intense. Like I can feel how you're feeling." She said licking her lips for the moment.

"It's an intense feeling being around you, like everything is amplified by a hundred, now." She said as she came to lean back against the couch as she brought her legs up to rest on his lap for the moment. "How do you feel? With me so close to you?"

"Well, everyone thought I was crazy. Thirteen, seeing this girl who wasn't really there." He said with an arched brow. "Of course it didn't really stop you from showing up on occasion." Merritt had felt very alone growing up, except for her.

He nodded. "Pretty much the same." It was like he was feeling for two people. Like impulses and instincts ran through him that weren't his. "But at the same time, it's hard to tell what's me and what's you and what's the same." Like when she mentioned Jason's name, he felt a small skip of the heart even though he had no reason to.

"It got harder as we got older. With the drinking and drugs." She replied with a light shrug of her shoulders for the moment. When he mentioned telling whose feelings were whose she thought a little. "Not sure. I just know I have mixed feelings." She replied as she came to finish that cup.

"I know I use to feel when you would get blackout drunk. It's how I developed a slight tolerance for drinking when I barely drink to being with." That glass was soon placed on the table as she looked towards Merritt as she tilted her head.

"You were the only friend I had. Kinda still are. Least you're the only person who knows what I went through, emotionally and physically." She came to place a kiss on his cheek as she rested her head on his shoulder.

He looked away when she mentioned his blackouts. It had been the only way to cope with life, but a sixteen year old shouldn't have to get blackout drunk to get a nights sleep. His fingers ran over the rim of his glass as she got closer. His eyes closed. "You know if they weren't already dead... your mom and her boyfriend... I'd find a way to make them pay." He informed her. "What she let happen to you..." Merritt always found it easier to focus on other peoples problems rather than his own. He'd have either found a way to charge them, or slip Digger his name.

She came to tilt her head as she listened to him. "Her boyfriend is still alive. But he skipped town when she died." She said with a shrug of her shoulders. Her nose nuzzling into his neck for the moment, as the feel of her lips, was felt against his ear. "And I want to kill your father." She said with a calmness in her voice.

They both had shit lives growing up, and no one, not even Jason with his knowledge of some of the things that happened to Zel would ever be able to understand what that meant. How those actions made then who they are. The only difference was, her scars were in the open, while his were in the dark.

Skipped town? No wonder he'd not been able to find her when he started looking- after finding out she was real. At the mention of his father, Merritt finished his glass and got up from the couch to refill it. Just thinking of the man brought back feelings of being weak and a victim. Of being scared and scared of his own body. The fact that what the man had done had been horrible, but a times felt physically good- because by nature paying attention to certain areas of the body felt good. And it took him a long time to convince himself that just because some of the stuff had felt good, didn't make it right. It also still made it difficult for him to be with a woman without being drunk because that moment things started to feel good, he found himself back in his childhood bed.

Merritt gripped the counter and stared at the amber liquid in the glass and took a deep breath to keep it together.

When he came to a stand she watched him walk off. Her frame coming to a stand as she moved towards him. Her hands coming to his back as she wrapped them around his waist. "Sex is supposed to feel good." She said softly as she came to turn him around to face her. "And it does feel good. Really good." She said as she bites her lower lip.

Her hand reaching up to touch the side of his face. "It can feel good ya know." She said assuring him for the moment. Sure, it took her a long time to get those images out her head. To replace the ugly with the good. Though, from time to time that feeling would come back.

Slowly her hands came up his chest as she took off his blazer and let it drop tot he ground. "Don't let him win." She told Merritt as she brought his face to look down at her as she pressed her forehead against his. She felt it, how he felt. That unsure feeling washing over her.

He placed his hands on her arms, a 'safe' place. A small smile graced his lips as he looked at her, his father had won years ago. It had been years since he'd been touched by the man, but the damage had been long done. "You're luck to have found someone." Merr said softly. "I can feel how you feel when you think about him... Jason." There was that skip of the heart again.

Merritt sighed, he hadn't asked her to come over for this sort of discussion. It was to figure out this connection of theirs.

She came to tilt her head when he mentioned Jason. A slight smirk came over her, but she shook her head. "Do you feel how I feel about you?" She asked as she tilted her head. "And you have me." She said with a firm nod of her head. The feel of her lips coming to press against his for the moment.

Sure, she knew this wasn't the conversation he wanted, but it's the one they were having. After a few minutes, she came to pull her lips away from his, another light kiss given to him as she came to stare up at him. "You'll always have me." She assured him as she brought her hand to take his and place them on her hips.

"It's okay for you to touch me, Merritt. After all, it's what you've always wanted to do." She said as she brought her nose to brush against his.

His eyes fluttered closed at the kiss. Merritt felt a warmth between them as his hand rested on her hip. It was true, when he'd hit puberty he'd had the biggest crush on her... which was even more ridiculous at the time, crushing on your invisible friend. Even knowing what had happened to her.

But no, it was... He pulled back holding his hands up slightly, "This is wrong." There were many levels of justification he could use. She was his client, she was in a relationship- with someone he could feel she cared for,... he wasn't drunk enough.

She came to watch him hold his hands up. Her hands came to take hold of his as she stared up at him. Her head shaking slightly as she touched at the side of his face. "Merritt... It's alright." She said softly as she came to look at him. "It's us. It's me, not some stranger." She added as she brought his hands under her shirt to touch at her lower back.

Sure, she was with Jason. But it wasn't anything exclusive, and they had an agreement. No getting jealous. "And I'm not your client anymore." She added as she picked up on his thoughts for the moment. Her hands soon came to undo his shirt as her hands pressed against his chest and pulled that shirt off of him and to the floor with his blazer.

The feel of her lips pressing against his once more as she pulled him down into her.

He sighed into her kiss, his fingers caressed the soft skin of her back. She felt hers on his bare chest. This was not why he'd asked her over. Merritt felt their feet carry them back around to the front of the couch. He slowly pulled apart from the kiss. "I'm not good at this..." His voice came out a whisper. It was true, he'd never really been good at being intimate, sex had always been awkward. He just didn't feel like he was ever doing right. Sure, Merr could charm a courtroom or his clients- even when three sheets to the wind, he was a very high functioning alcoholic- but when it came to a woman, he could charm them, but after that he fumbled.

She felt their feet lead them to the couch as she came to lightly push him down to have a seat. "I know." She said softly as she came to pull her shirt up and off her frame. "But, I am." His hands slid up her back as she kissed him. He tried to focus on them, on the pressure of her hips. Zel was warm and beautiful, but nothing stirred. It was a common issue he'd had- lost many an impatient partner because of it. It was difficult for him to... get in the mood. It had been for years, all those repressed feelings when it came to sex and his past. It took time for physical feelings to trump the emotional ones. That's one reason he was normally more drunk. It quieted the inner voice. Sure he didn't always remember the night before, but at least he could perform without too much issue.

When he pulled away, Zel listened. "Shh." Is all she said, since she knew exactly what he was trying to tell her. She could feel it. That embarashment washing over him slightly. Already she brought him into her to give him a tight hug.

Her frame came off of his though, as she moved to the bar whwre he left his glass. Already pouring his drink as she reached into her poclet and pulled out two vials. That Score pushed into her port as she came to walk back to him. Taking her seat on his lap as she handed him the drink.

She didnt say anything as she came to unscrew that Shok vial and take half in her mouth, but instead of swallowing she pulled Merr back into a kiss, pushing that liquid into his mouth for him to swallow down.

When done, she would take the rest for herself. "Drink." She advised him softly as she kissed at his neck. She knew he needed to be drunk. He needed that edge to help him, and Zel didnt mind.

He'd only ever experienced drugs through her. As he took a long drink. Merritt made a small noise of discomfort as the Shok kicked in, that tingling sensation was strange though not painful to him. It subsided quickly. Finishing his drink he set the glass down and moved back to meet her lips. He let out a small laugh, running his hand through his hair. Sweat beaded his skin. "That's putting it mildly." Merritt looked down at her. As much as he hadn't been planning on... that happening, it had answered a lot of his questions. In that one engagement they'd seemingly read each others mind, shared memories and feelings both physical and emotional. He placed a hand to his chest, his heart was still pounding and he felt famished and he remembered he had leftover pizza in the fridge. But that required moving, and he wasn't sure he could stand at that moment. "I've never felt... had..." Merr brushed some of her hair from her face. "Thank you." It was hard to put into words how she'd helped him actually enjoy sex for the first time in a long time. Where he hadn't felt guilty or dirty after.

Zel held a smile over her lips as she listened to Merritt for the moment. Licking st her lips at the thought of pizza she came to look at him. "Pizza sounds amazing right now." She added with a smile. But he was right, getting up right now was not an option.

So far he was the second person to thank her for sex. She was noticing a pattern, but she didn't care. "We are doing this again." She said as she leaned over and kissed him once more.

It was becoming harder to realize what he’d said and thought and vice versa. It was almost like they didn’t have to talk to communicate. When she said they were going to do this again he felt a small wave of nerves. It had been intense that was for sure, but the amount of times he’d been with the same person more than once he could count on one hand. And they’d always ended badly. He knew she was just looking for something casual, but what if he got attached? With their connection could he risk that? For a man so confident in the courtroom, he was shit at personal relationships. “We’ll see.” He replied softly.

Is all she said about her relationship with the King. Emerald hues looking to Merritt for the moment. "So.. If you want me again, you can have me." She assured him.

"I just have one rule. It's the same thing I told Jason... Don't fall in love with me." She said as she came to look at him, while playing with his hair. Zel strongly believed she didn't deserve anyone loving with. Blame it on the neglect and trauma she went through her whole life. But in her eyes, love wasn't in the cards for her.

“Little late for that.” He chuckled. Though it wasn’t a romantic love he felt for her. Which was probably why he felt so nervous about the sex. The way he felt about her was more a soul mate, kindred spirit, best friend but more sort of feeling. It was hard to explain in words, but it was definitely not a romantic love. He’d known her his whole life even though they’d just met two weeks prior. She was part of him. His first crush, his first friend, his first love. That would never change. And as good as the sex was he couldn’t see them ever ‘settling down’ together, but at the same time nothing would break them apart.

People like me... aren't.." she wasn't sure how to put it. She knew she was a drug addict. It was amazing she hasn't over dosed more often than she did.

Not to mention her past. She was terrified of a family life invade she ruined it, like she ruined her parents marriage. She came to sigh deeply as she tested her head on his shoulder. "No one looks at me and thinks of settling down. It's how it is. I'm just something to do in between times until the one shows me." She said with a nod.

Though it made her think of Merritt and Jason now. Would they get bored of her? Leave her? Break her crumbling heart? It was a lot of questions with no real answers.

"One addict to another, You deserve to be happy... because of everything you've been through." He kissed the side of her head. "And I can't talk for your pretty boy... but I'm not going anywhere." Merritt chuckled a little. "I'm not sure I'd be able to anyhow." He sighed slightly and gently moved her, finally having the feeling back in his extremities enough to stand. He slipped his pants back on and moved to the small kitchen and pulled out the day old pizza. "Hope you like chicken, bacon and garlic." He said, as he set it on the coffee table before moving to fill up his drink again.

When he called Jason pretty boy, Zel couldn't help but laugh a little. "You sound a little jealous there." She said teasing. In reality, all Zel had to do was fix her panties and that was it. Already she grabbed at his shirt and slipped it on once he brought the pizza out. Already she came to take a slice as she looked to him and thought a moment. "Ya know, we should try this connection when not so close to each other. See how we can trigger it."

"Just maybe... not while I'm in a partner meeting. Next time." He said with a chuckle as he returned to the couch and took a sip of his drink. "And not jealous- just... protective. Always have been." Just never knew he needed to be.

They spent the rest of the night reminiscing on growing up, some bad some good. Moments, memories they had in dreams surfaced as belonging to the other and old memories of happy moments resurfaced the more they talked. They may have had some scars, but between those moments they had been happy at times. Eventually they both started to fall asleep as the Shok wore off. Merritt carried her up to his bed and tucked her in before taking the couch for the night. When she woke up in the morning there was a caff stick sitting on the counter for her and he was off to work.
