Late Afternoon: Merritt & Digger - Phone call
Merritt closed his eyes, muting the phone a moment as he composed himself- definitely not drunk enough. He knew what kind of person Digger was, but hearing it was something different. "Oh well I definitely would not want to see anything to happen to my client. And I would never want someone else to be blamed for a crime they didn't commit." Merr said, always careful about his words.
About five years previous something had happened to witnesses who were going to testify for a client of his and the DA pressed charges against the law firm for conspiracy. Of course Meritt had reached out to someone (a few someones) to take care of the situation, but he was able to get onto the stand and say without perjuring himself that he had no idea who killed the witnesses and that he'd never asked anyone to do it. It had been a new DA who wanted to prove themselves... he was fired the day the judge dismissed the case due to lack of evidence.
