Honestly, Seamus liked girls who could think and make decisions for themselves, but sometimes he thought they preferred a man to take charge. Besides, it was his restaurant and he knew the best items on the menu for pretty much every mood, season, time of day, and so on down to the beverage to pair with a meal. It was necessary in his line of work, though he was much better at the drinks. Once he had a drink in mind, the meal was easier. Helped if he knew a person, too. A girl like Astoria would be watching her figure; had to be, to fit into those stylish little outfits.
Then she mentioned that her sister was being forced into an arranged marriage and Seamus put it all together. Astoria was pure, from an old family, and would likely be shoved in the same direction. His brows knit together. What was she doing with the likes of him, then?
"That's...terrible, Astoria," he finally said, not able to look at her. "No one should be forced into anything they don't want."
