RP Log: Seamus and Adrian Who: Seamus and Adrian What: A chat at Ri-Ra on a slow evening When: BACKDATED to Wednesday night Where: Ri-Ra, Galway, Ireland Warnings: None, unless you are severely beer-phobic.
It had been a fairly quiet night over at Ri-Ra when Adrian had stopped by to talk with Seamus. He assumed that he needed to keep true to his word about telling him how things went with Susan. Plus, he wanted to tell somebody how dinner went with her Monday night; part of him had wondered since then if that was a date. He personally thought that it was one and from the way things occurred, he was relatively certain that Suse felt the same way as well. Yet he did know one thing -- he did want to see her again. There was just something...unique about her that always put him in such a good mood. He knew that Seamus was right about her; that Tracey told him just a few hours ago that her seeing Seamus was just gossip from Pansy. He intended to find out the truth about that as well.
Seamus was mostly bored behind the bar. Wednesday was a slow night there - most people didn't come out for serious drinking in the middle of the week, even when it had been a week like this one. He'd pulled a pint here and there, but for the greater part of the afternoon and evening he'd been scribbling on a pad and watching the clock. Thus, the entrance of a friendly face brought an immediate smile.
"Adrian!" Seamus said cheerfully. "Glad ye made it, mate, 'cause I'm bored as hell in here. How's life?"
"Life is going well for me," he told Seamus. Glad that he could get his friend out of the state of boredom that he was currently in. "Susan and I went out for dinner on Monday and everything went well in regards to that." He smiled, just thinking about her -- something that he really hadn't done much before he met her. Sure, he smiled, but it always seemed to come off as a bit...well, forced. Now, it came more naturally to him; but then again, her smile was rather infectious. "You were right about her; she's a wonderful person to be around."
"Susan's great," Seamus agreed with a grin that might have been just a little bit smirky. It was good to see Adrian looking genuinely happy about something for once. Better still that it was a girl - he thought the man needed some companionship, and someone as down-to-earth as Susan was ideal. "Glad to hear the two o' ye had fun. Gonna see 'er again?"
"I plan on it," he told Seamus, the grin remaining affixed on his face, "just don't know when though. I may have rushed into things a little bit when I tried to give her a good-night kiss on Monday and she pulled back."
"Some girls like to take things slow, I reckon." Seamus nodded and poured a pint of Adrian's usual brand of beer. "But if she was up for goin' out again, it can't 've been too bad." Pulling back or not, it was probably still less awkward than Seamus's own romantic situation.
"Maybe she's never been in a relationship before," he contemplated; he had never asked her that and he had no intention of bringing up the subject. He just assumed that she hadn't, that's all. With a smile, he added, "But I'm looking forward to seeing her again."
With a sip of his ale, he decided to shift the topic off him and onto Seamus. "So, how's everything in the life of Seamus Finnigan?"
"Weird as hell," Seamus answered with a wry half smile. "Ye remember me mentioning some involvement wi' Tracey Davis a li'l while back? Well, it's become a li'l more involvement. Seems we've each got too much of a jealous streak where the other's concerned to really do the no-strings-attached thing...so it looks like we're officially together or somethin'."
Adrian took a second to process this information. It was only a couple of hours ago when he had brought up that topic in his discussion with Tracey and she immediately disregarded the rumours. He assumed that the two of them were still seeing each other (only just as friends with benefits though) and he felt that it was best that Seamus knew what Tracey had told him.
"That's odd," he stated, "I talked to her a couple of hours ago about you still seeing her and she immediately dismissed it. Said it was a product of gossip."
"Odd indeed," Seamus replied dryly. "Given that a week or so ago, she was all set to pull Alicia's hair out for kissin' me. 'Licia went to fight back, an' next thing ye know Tracey was smackin' her face into the table. I got 'Licia healed up an' taken home, went lookin' for Tracey, an' when I found 'er it was my turn to go an' get in a barroom brawl. Not much o' one, since the ponce went down in one hit, but it was enough to get all three of us thrown out o' Casseiopeia...an' Tracey an' I had a talk. Decided that we'd stick with each other an' quit the jealousy games."
So what game was Tracey playing at now? It was always something with that girl. Of course, knowing that she had a history with Adrian, Seamus could figure that she was trying to mess with his head as well. Hadn't she figured out that the two of them talked to each other yet?
"Well, the way she's acting, you would assume that she's still single. She knows that the two of us are mates, so it just seems rather odd that she was so keen to disregard it," he said, thinking out why Tracey hasn't told him about this yet. Maybe it was because she didn't want him to think that she was going to assume that she would allow herself to go into another...relationship? He wasn't going to dwell on it though.
"How single?" Seamus asked, arching an eyebrow. If she was fooling around on him already, so help him somebody was going to do some major ruing.
"Well, she still allows blokes to fawn over her and carry her bags," he started out, "but that wasn't as bad as what happened on Sunday -- her birthday party at La Luna. She demanded that everybody kiss her, guys and girls alike, and Daphne took her home. I offered to, but Daphne said she had been under orders not to let her go home with any guys."
"That's all?" Seamus laughed, relieved. If she was kissing everybody at the party, it was no big deal. Just something for a laugh, really. He wasn't worried, if that was all she was up to. "No big thing, then. Sounds like just Tracey bein' Tracey." He'd ask her about that whole denying the existence of their involvement bit, though. It was a touch classless of her. "So anyway," he said, deciding that he'd rather have a change of subject, "I'm havin' lunch wi' Susan Bones this week. Anything I shouldn' say?"
"Nothing that I'm aware of," he responded, the grin reemerging on his face. "She's pretty much open to anything when the two of us talk, well and flirt...but I don't assume that you'll be flirting with her. Just have a good time and tell her I said 'hi.'"
"No flirtin' from me," Seamus assured him. "Susan an' I go way back, but it's like wi' Lilith - always been just friends. She's like a sister to me, same as m' own is." The Irishman had no idea that Lilith had ever been interested in him in any way that went beyond friendship - while rather clever in some ways, he could be incredibly dense in others. It simply had never occurred to him that his pretty redheaded friend would want anything to do with him romantically. If it had, he might have taken a chance on it once upon a time.
"Yes, I had the opportunity to talk to Lilith a while back. She seems to be a nice person," he told Seamus and in all honestly, he could see the two of them becoming friends. That was something he found rather odd since he usually didn't like making new friends given the course of his occupation, but if his friends knew them or they knew his friends and shared enough mutual interests, then he would try to befriend them.
Seamus rested his elbow on the bar, getting comfortable. "Lil's a gem," he affirmed with a smile. "I dunno what I'd've done without 'er these past few years. How'd ye end up crossin' her path?" he asked, interested.
"Actually, you were the one who told us that we would be good friends," he stated, jokingly, he added, "Don't you remember saying that?"
"Course I remember!" Seamus laughed. "I just didn' know ye'd already gotten around to it. That's ace, though. 'm glad the two o' ye got on."
"Yes, she's a wonderful person to talk with," he responded, "you could probably go on for hours if you lost track of the time."
Seamus chuckled, thinking of some of the several times that he and Lilith had gone on forever chatting about something or another. They were both talkers, so a conversation between the two of them could carry on for quite some time. "I've done so more'n once," he said. "And fortunately not always 'cause I was too drunk to remember to shut up."
"I know the feeling all too well. Honestly, there are some people that I can't shut up when I'm around. They always happen to find out my hidden secrets though," he told him, with a smirk he added, "but with some people I guess it's a good thing."
"Ye know, Ade..." Seamus said, amused, "I think this may be the best mood I've seen ye take in...damn, I dunno how long." To do with Susan, perhaps, Seamus wondered?
"It's probably been several years," he stated with a grin, "but then, certain circumstances have played a role in why I'm so happy."
"I'd wondered if that might've had something to do with it," his friend admitted, and then smiled. "Anyhow, it's good to see."
Down the bar, one of the few customers signaled Seamus for another drink. He complied efficiently, sliding the gin and tonic across the bar to the man. When that was done, he was back at the end of the bar with Adrian.
"It probably did," he stated with a grin that remained fixated on his face. "But then again, some people bring out the best in you."
"Too true," Seamus agreed. "An' some of 'em bring out the worst." And some of them brought out the worst but you wanted them anyway, but he didn't bring that up. They'd talked enough about Tracey already.
