Kate was clearly unobservant when it came to Eli's uncomfortableness around the amount of money her and Mia were kind of throwing around. At least Mia and Tommy seemed fine with it, not that she was not paying attention to Tommy or anything, which she totally was. That wasn't a good thing, considering her date wasn't stupid and would probably pick it up. She thought about sliding her arm into his, but that would just make things more awkward, because she still wasn't sure what kind of date this was in the first place.
The corsage he bought her and slipped on her wrist was nice, though. It'd made her feel strange, especially when his fingers brushed her wrist.
Tommy's question had made Kate pause in her whole setting things up. She was pulling out glasses for everyone and was about to pour the proper amount of alcohol into each of them, given Eli's blessing. "Uh," her usual smooth talking had come to a complete stutter. That's when she held up her wrist, showing the corsage. "I am his date, yes."
