Surprisingly, Ollie let Roy get through his whole spiel before he said anything. Roy had never really approached him related to S.H.I.E.L.D before; it was something of an agreed upon subject that they rarely discussed, given Ollie's political and personal views about the organization, and the fact that they paid Roy's paycheck which allowed him to care for Lian the way she deserved. As long as they avoided the topic, they avoided ever discussing Roy's motivation for joining S.H.I.E.L.D. in the first place.
"No," he said. "Roy, you and me, we can't talk about this. It's the definition of conflict of interest. If your bosses want to talk to Green Arrow about this team of theirs, tell them to send someone else. They're not going to use anyone in his family as a buffer,"
Oliver sat back, a serious expression on his face. "Listen... I don't wanna tell you how to do your job, but you may wanna get as far away from this you can at work. Think about the people they're recruiting, and your life... and ask your whether you want to spend your time being a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent or feeling like you're one of their informants."
