Carol bristled a little at Sue to start. She didn't need to be reminded how very unspecial she was. She was just another solider, nameless, faceless - that's how most people saw the military anyways, right? Really, Carol should be used to it by now, and perhaps she was to start while she defended her country and felt like she was only a small piece in the bigger picture.
But the last few years had not been kind to Carol. And she couldn't help but feel she had done something very wrong in a previous life which had garnered her lots of special attention, torture and receiving Medals of Honor notwithstanding. But the moment quickly passed and Carol kept her composure as Sue went on, who was getting down to meat and potatoes, so to speak, of why they were there.
"Just after," she informed them. And then after a pause, she added, "And now." She looked through the portal at the military brass on the other side, wondering if a demonstration would be appropriate. Some sort of flame-type powers by the looks of it. But what Sue said next had Carol backtracking.
"No, I think they were waiting for... Are you sure?" Carol didn't want to get her hopes up. But that was such a relief. Turning to Reed she informed him, "No, I believe this was the first time the J79 hybrids were used in actual flight, other than that day. Other than that, it was just sims, number crunching. That sort of thing."
