BEAUTIFY GOTHAM PROJECT BEGINS by Vicki Vale The Environmental Club is still at the head, though it might have to do with Ms. Isley's connection. She has insisted that, "this is their idea, their baby. I can't take that away from them. I am grateful that the heads of these landscaping companies and those who have donated to the cause have been so forthcoming about letting my students continue to lead." When questioned as to how much they have received as far as donations go, she informed us that "enough" but that she didn't want to the students to lose the chance to earn some of the money themselves, so they are going to move forward with the fundraiser they already planned. The fundraiser, as she explained, is in concurrence with a nursery that offered for every donation made, they would have the choice between the African Violet, Bird of Paradise, or a variety of orchids, depending on the donation. Each plant is non-toxic and is accompanied by a small booklet on the proper care of each. The plants are available to purchase at the Heart of Gotham Nursery or through any member of the Environmental club. This project has not gone without political notice as well. Primaries are underway and the elections for the House of Representatives fast approaching, candidates and those currently holding office have jumped on to show their support. Congressman Robert E. Andrews expressed, "We can start with Gotham and then take it to each and every city. We are the Garden State after all."
