Babs grinned, though the grin looked kind of nervous. Had he squeaked because he was shy? Or because he was scared? Those were two entirely different scenarios. She took a big gulp of her wine to steady her nerves before continuing on with the tour. "Step right this way, sir!" she said, in her best carnival barker voice. Why she had suddenly lapsed into a carnival barker voice, she did not know.
She took another significant gulp of wine.
She lead him into her bedroom which was nice, if not a bit sparse. The major adornments were a series of pictures on the wall--her father, her mother, Sarah, Dinah, Bruce and Dick. It was all the people she had loved for so long on her walls, as if to prove she wasn't all sterile machines and exposed brick. A person with a big heart lived her too. "The mattress is tempur-pedic..." she murmured, turning shyly to Ted. "And there's an en suite shower. Not much more to ask for right?"
