"Cool." Barbara smiled, slipping her fingers through his. "We'll catch a cab. That's easiest." Because the Gotham train system was kind of scary at night (well, it was for normal people scared of thugs), and she didn't want to risk getting into a brawl in front of Ted and having to explain how she could kick the pants off any average assailant.
The bonus of it was that the cab ride was quick, and soon she was fishing out her eyes, feeling nervous. She had told everyone to be on their best behavior and use the skylight, but what happened if there was an emergency and someone crashed through her window or something like that? Maybe she was over thinking things, but then, she had never really gotten too attached to any man outside of the business (even her father had one foot in it). What was the protocol for a secret identity that had to remain protected at all costs?
"Home sweet home," she sing-songed, wondering where that odd impulse had come from. She stepped inside, turning around to him. "Give me your coat and then make yourself comfortable--do you want something to drink? I could crack open a bottle of wine or something..." Even without full visibility of the computer lab, Clocktower was a pretty impressive space. It was laid out in a loft design with lots of hip, industrial touches like exposed brick walls. The concept was very open, with the living room, dining room and kitchen practically being one large space. Only her bedroom, bathroom and the larger computer lab were located past doorways.
In the corner, she had separated out a lightweight station that could be turned on and off of the Oracle network if you had the right password. It would make a suitable hub to show off to Ted. It was nothing near her real set up but impressive enough for her to talk geek with.
