Re: Teams converge
He brought up the rear. It was a point of necessity as well as pride; Loki was needed in front, so that his magpie of a spirit familiar could scout a path for them, and well-protected by the Cloak and the shimmering orb Sphere of the Seraphim, and L.L. proved quite capable of stopping anyone that crossed their paths.
That left him to make sure that there was no one bursting up on them from behind, and the relatively slower pace allowed him to gather his strength and look over the structure for a good place to cast his spells. The sooner they were all out of here, the better, but it would do no good to rush into spellwork and find the ceiling caving down around their ears.
On the other hand if the ceiling caved down around their ears anyways, he would have nowhere to cast his spell then.
One moment he'd been examining an intersection, wondering if it would be worth it to call his pupils back and have them stand still as he cast the spell of teleportation anyways, the next he was deflecting bullets from a pair that came rushing up from opposite hallways, and bringing up ropes of fire and force to convince them to retreat - and, when they did not, to flail like whips of snakes to break their necks. Arguably, a swift death was more than they deserved, but by then Loki and L.L. was nearly out of sight, and he needed to hurry.
He swept into the room without the benefit of a Cloak snapping at his heels, but the effect was much the same. He glanced over his students, the girl with the crossbow who seemed to know what they were doing. "If we are going to kill each other, may I ask we make it quick?" he suggested. He took in the rest of the room in a glance. "Would that I had time to revoke all their medical licenses," he did have to say.
