Dick looked to his phone, even as data started to be picked off of it.
Evade. Yeah, knew something wasn't sitting right on my gut. Dick narrowed his eyes at the van near the corner of the police station, then started to walk away. Heyyyyy batterbatterbatter... Walk this way. Who's a good coupla mooks? Is it you two? Yes it is!
A few minutes later.
"Again, you don't sneak up on people in this neighborhood." He then smacked his side-handled baton against a forearm before setting his boot against the shoulder of one of the downed people in suits. "I could do this all morning," he said, doing his best to seem grumpy. "But I got a bed calling my name. So really, which criminal organization do you boys belong to?" Not that I don't know, but hey, let's make you squirm, huh?
"We just need to talk. We're govern-."
"Nopenopenope, because if you were government, you wouldn't be approaching an individual cop and especially not whipping your handguns out before badges at the first sign of resistance. This is Bludhaven. Not going through the proper channels gets a person shot, and everyone from Baltimore to Manhattan knows that, so you gotta come up with something better than 'government'."
"We swear! We're under a top secret investigation and-."
Dick cut him the other agent off sharply by rapping him on the knuckles. "Hey. I told you. No reaching for stuff. Sigh. You know what? I'm going to just get you two up to the station for attempted bribery. I just got done working a double. Pretty tired. Going to sleep, enjoy my days off, then going to worry about you two when I get back into town. Come on. Up. Walk this way. Yeah-Oh! That was smooth! See that? That's a hand cuff. And this is a thumb lock. Now you two hold hands criss cross like that till we can ask you some questions, huh?"
So it was that Dick ended up dumping two Hydra agents into the station to be booked for bribery, all while they were vehemently denying it and requesting a lawyer even while he slipped out much to his captain's irritation. It was another trick getting past the next set of goons and to his bike. Then they had no chance of catching him, even while he seemed to be casually pulling off the turns to some destination. They lost him on the bridge exits.
Quick drop off of at the apartment to secure anything compensating there. Then on to the Clock tower. Make sure everyone else is okay. Then if anyone can get me patched in for a meeting with Hill, it's Babs. Gotta fill her in more on the underwater base. That base was way more of a doozy than Damian and he had anticipated. Past the gates there were automated weapon defenses. It was going to take something brazen to bust through, something that would unfortunately get noticed. So if they were going in, it needed to be something full scale.
Now seemed a great time for just that. Dick looked up at the slanting light of the rising sun. Time was now of the essence. Regroup. Gather information. Then act.
