Boarding school was based around routine. It was the only way to corral so many students to and fro. There was a time to wake up, time for breakfast, time for classes and nearly every activity was supervised by faculty of some sort. So it was a rare occasion when Damian found himself left to his own devices. There was a faint vibration and then Drake's voice was in his ear.
There was no time for conversation. Instead, Damian stole into his room, closing the door behind him. He dumped his backpack on the floor and tossed his blazer and phone on the bed. There was a spinning icon on the phone's display as the remote wipe initiated. Damian quickly crossed to the window and took a moment to assess the situation. As always, Drake's information was exceedingly accurate. It also meant that Drake had reinstalled his surveillance equipment. But that discussion, along with all the details of whatever was happening right now, would have to wait until later. (And Drake better have good answers.)
Tactical retreats were not Damian's style but fighting off a number of assailants wasn't an option. Not without raising a multitude of questions. In mere seconds, Damian was out his window and making his way to the rooftops. One good thing about the Gotham Academy campus was that almost all the buildings were connected in some fashion or another. The buildings themselves were filled with secret passages and alcoves and there were enough trees to give the grounds character. Damian had made a very through sweep of the grounds when he first arrived.
The group below clearly wasn't going tor the subtle approach. Headmaster Hammer was going to throw a fit. There were two vans parked haphazardly and a number of people trying to look unassuming in dark suits. Presumably even more people were rushing up the stairs. It was a good thing Jørgensen was already in class otherwise he probably would have passed out from all the excitement.
No time to waste.
As soon as they found the dorm room empty, presumably they'd radio their colleagues and start a wider search. He needed to disappear before then. Damian crossed the rooftop of the dorm and then the main building before jumping down to a nearby tree. From there, it was a race by the tennis court to the staff parking.
Professor Scarlet's car was a disappointing shade of brown and had clearly seen better days. It was also ridiculously easy to hotwire. And, in the ensuing chaos, easily overlooked. Once he got into the city, it'd be easier to disappear. There were caches of supplies scattered all about and then he could start looking for answers.
