Re: Vistors - Late - Jason
Dinah was pretty sure she would never sleep again. Sam wasn't crying, he wasn't keeping her awake-- but things were suddenly different now. She could hear Bruce's breathing, hear it when it changed or when he got up and moved around-- none of that bothered her or kept her up. But now she listened to Sam's breathing. The moment it changed, the moment he started to fuss, or sighed, or yawned, she was awake. Even when it didn't, she was awake, listening to his breathing-- just to reassure herself that he was still doing it, even without her watching him for it.
So she'd been awake when Jason had come in-- and would have sat up if he had started to reach for the baby-- but he hadn't, so Dinah stayed still and let him have his moment unimpeded, until Jason left. Lying on her side with her hands pillowed under her head, she looked at Bruce in the dark, trying to judge the look on his face in the deep shadows.
"Hopefully he'll come back when he thinks we're awake next time."
