Who: Nyssa, a disguised Bucky What: Nyssa's not happy with how the war with her sister is going and gets impressed by a disguised Bucky Where: Nanda Parbat When: Dec. 15
The parchment easily crumpled in Nyssa's hand. The assets and manpower the League had scattered over the world were being depleted. Or to be more accurate, killed and/or taken by her sister and her forces. Something had to be done. Yes, Nyssa had new recruits constantly coming in but it would take them years to master their potential. Right now they were just cannon fodder if they were to go up against Talia and her Hand.
Turning away from her desk, she made her way to the courtyard here some of the more promising recruits were training. Her dark eyes studied each person, her one hand absently fiddling with the ring that marked her as the Demon's Head. Her eyes kept drifting to one of the recruits in particular. He had a good amount of skill and actually had promise. More than that, he didn't hold back in his training. At a pause, she moved over to him.
"You show great promise. Tell me, what brought you to us?"
The man had turned and bowed to Nyssa before looking at her, his brown eyes nothing but honest. "To find myself."
"A noble quest. Why seek it here with us though?"
The man (who was in fact James Barnes but disguised) didn't blink. "I've tried other paths before. None gave me what I seek. Perhaps the League can."
"What name have you chosen?"
"Al'akhir. Lost one. Seemed apropos."
"You are already a fighter. And I can see in your eyes that you are also a killer. How many have you killed before?"
"I haven't kept the best track. I've been in a dark place for many years." It wasn't a total lie. James couldn't remember everything he had done while under control of the Soviets. It was why he was doing this for Talia. She had the ability to protect his mind from further tampering. And if she could, he would do just about anything to ensure his mind would be protected.
"You think the League will shed light upon you? We operate in the shadows Al'akhir."
"But you see in the shadows. You know the shadows. That's what I want. To know."
Nyssa studied the man for a moment. "Then we shall see if you truly has what it takes to be one of us. Your final test for the League will begin." The man bowed and Nyssa waited for him to straighten before leading him away.
James followed behind Nyssa, knowing this was his best chance to be able to get close to her. And if he could get close to her, gain her trust, he would be able to kill her for Talia.
