Re: Big Present Reveal! - Near the end of event time.
Dinah laughed outright at the message Mia had written inside the book, and smiled, wrapping her arm around the young woman to give her a sideways hug. That was easier than frontal hugs these days, since she had to lean nearly into another continent to pull them off. Browsing through the collected books, Dinah ran a hand over each of them, looking at a few of the inscriptions, a warm, grateful smile lingering on her lips.
"Oh! There's not one from me." She said after a moment, the realization just coming to her. Of course it had been a surprise for her (and Sam by proxy), so there was no way she could have known to bring a book-- but that didn't mean she didn't want to contribute all the same.
"Hold on." She said to Mia, waddling from the room and back downstairs as quickly as she could go-- which wasn't quickly at all. Instead of going out and buying a book for Sam, she helped herself to a collection from the library, and brought it back up with her; a book devoid of colorful pictures either in the interior or on the cover, decorated only with the notable orange print on the cover, The Secret of the Old Clock by Carolyn Keene.
Thoroughly degrading the first edition, she wrote a quick message inside, smiling to herself, then set the book on the bookshelf along with the rest. Compared to other newer or more colorful books (or even those more notable from their thickness), Dinah's old book seemed to fade into a back corner-- a secret surprise, a mystery to be revealed some day in the far flung future.
Task complete, she caught Mia up in one more side hug, this time with both arms, reflecting on the decorated room, and kissed her hair.
"Thanks, kiddo." She repeated, giving her a little squeeze and holding on until the girl started squirming-- which Dinah was betting would be any minute now.
