Re: Books! - Maria/Bruce
She still radiated nerves, and Bruce thought it best to ignore it rather than address it outright. Doing so would only put her on defense, and he wasn't certain she would believe him any more afterward than she did now.
He did like the book though, and picked up one of the more colorful ones next to it. A bright, rectangular book, with 'Go, Dog, Go!' written over the picture of a dog in a yellow classic convertible. The dog had taste, at least. "I don't know anything about books like this," he murmured, seemingly to no one in particular. "There really isn't much I know about any of this that I haven't read in a book. I don't see how one can be any better than another.
Putting the children's book down, he almost paused at the sight of a biography of Alexander the Great, but he did smile. He looked up to see if Maria had caught it, too. "The one in the library stays in the library. This one is Sam's. His world." A finger tapped affectionately on the cover. "As well as his... dog in a yellow convertible."
