Re: Books! - Maria/Bruce
When he'd heard about the party from Barbara, Bruce had been in favor. They didn't need anything they couldn't buy themselves, but there were things he knew were important. The first was that he and Dinah had little to no experience with children, and the saying that it took a village to raise a child was all too true. The second was that their village was family, or practically family, and it was as important for them to be a part of Sam's life as it was for his parents. Bruce had grown up alone after the death of his parents. Even with Alfred, and then Tony, he had isolated himself. He never wanted that for Sam. Dinah had had family, and adoptive family, and those who had gathered here were just that..
The problem was, Bruce was feeling claustrophobic. There was often more people in the Manor that this group of his more intimate acquaintances, but it was that very intimacy that drew in the air around him, making him uncomfortable.
Looking at the books helped. Mia's idea had been the most appealing aspect of the shower for him, and Bruce was eager to see what came of it. He made a face at Jason's offering, but couldn't help the warm feeling to see that he'd contributed at all. His fingers moved over the cover of the Atlas, and flipped open the cover to read the inscription. Looking up, he spotted Maria nearby. "Very thoughtful," he commented.
