Who: Lois and Dinah
When: September 15, 2016
Where: Wayne Manor
What: Lois comes to visit... okay, no, it's an interview.
They sat at the table in the kitchen. Lois wasn't as frequent a visitor as her husband - a gross understatement - but she was there often enough that Alfred knew she liked her coffee black and her brownies dark chocolate and extra fudgey. Brownies, Lois always thought, seemed like such a low-brow dessert for someone so decidedly classy as Alfred to make, but she figured with a passel of teenage boys coming and going over the years, it helped to have something simple with no frills in his repertoire. She would never, ever, tell Clark she'd used the word 'passel', either.
She actually felt a little guilty drinking coffee in front of Dinah, though not enough to switch to something else just yet. Working the crime beat was a nice change from politics, but the hours were, no pun intended, killer. Even with friends in high places. Pun intended. "Alright," she said, taking a sip and cradling the warm mug between her hands before continuing the conversation, recorder between them. "People aren't stupid. They're going to be able to add two and two and understand the motive behind the secret wedding. I can't imagine you believed you'd fool anyone with that, so how would you like to present it?" This was, and was not, her usual style, soft ball instead of hard. Another reporter might view the whole thing as a scandal, and she could have played it that way, but for one, this was a favor for a friend, and for another - Lois didn't write puff pieces.
It was a shame that Bruce couldn't be here with them. Lois had often teased his for his work habits, or lack thereof, but she knew the truth, and here was a demonstration, just in case she needed proof. They had conducted a brief interview over the phone, so she had some idea, but didn't want to lead Dinah, or influence her response. "Why a wedding so secret that not even the guests knew, and why so fast? It's not like pregnancy out of wedlock would have made you a pariah."
