He wasn't looking for her when he glanced up from the "scintillating" conversation he was having with the mayor's wife, but it was hard to miss Talia. Especially when she was speaking with his son and radiating irritation, quickly dissolving into anger. Tim's careful nonchalance, by contrast, told Bruce that whatever was happening couldn't be good.
Excusing himself, not bothering to consider if it was politely or not, Bruce crossed to the pair and paused long enough for to attract both of their attentions. "Miranda," he murmured, nodding a greeting, but it was only for show - he wanted to examine her more closely before he said anything. Saying nothing as he did the same with Tim, he only nodded after he'd made his decision.
Placing a hand on Tim's shoulder and an easy smile on his face, in a low, hard voice, he asked his son, "What are you doing?"
