The boy underestimated her and had no understand of her. She was not nearly as interested or impressed by him as her father had been; but there was a time and place for such discussions and this was not it. She did not acknowledge the compliment except for a sideways glance that proved that she had at least heard him.
She was disinclined to follow the boy anywhere, as she could see nothing of value coming from continued contact, and she made no move to follow him to the bar. She was not a trained monkey and she did not dance on command.
"Thank you, but no." She said with all due manners, but pressed further. If Drake wanted something from her, this was his chance to speak it, "Was there something you required of me, Young Detective? Or are you simply, graciously trying to test my tolerance?" It was unclear whether she meant her tolerance for alcohol or for teenagers poking around in her business.
