A nod, and he almost looked sympathetic. The easy answer was the permanent one. It was the easiest way to deal with people outside the law, people who were beyond help. But the line was what that turned the person who killed the person. For Dick it wasn't if he would kill if the line was drawn--it was that he couldn't, and that was the big difference between him and Maria--the ability to make that decision and act on it. "And different players," he agreed.
More brightening. "Ooh, quinjets. That is tempting. If I get enough SHIELD points, do I get to fly for free? That can be a thing, right?"
"Exactly. And hey, he trusts you. Even though you're a super spy who likes coffee that fights back."
Then it turned to the friendly inquiry, and he knew it was that. He looked around as though the people he was speaking of were present in the room. Which they were not of course. "Oh, Dinah is learning that tying shoes can be a pain. Bruce keeps watching her like a hawk, making sure she doesn't do anything dangerous. It's... well, he could lighten up on it a little, but it's how he shows he cares. He kinda doesn't have a healthy middle ground for that kind of thing." A smile at that, though, not concern. "Damian is settling a bit as well. I think being around normal kids has been good for him. He actually didn't greet me with an insult or backhanded compliment the other day. I wondered if he was coming down with something, to be honest, but he looked fine. And Tim is still pulling a 4.0, and he got out of his grump he was in. He gets super agitated when he can't figure things out, so once he did realize what Captain and Hydra were doing, he got much better. Alfred is awesome, as always, but won't leave me alone about unwadding my socks."
