Who: Maxine and Connor Where: State park When: 9/2/16 (back some) What: The couple are out camping, talking, enjoying each other's company. Rating: Low
Both of them were fit and had no problem with hiking for a while to get to a campground further away from people. For Labor Day weekend, all the parks were pretty busy with campers. They didn't mind, and when Underdog looked tired, she got to hitch a ride on top of Connor's shoulder and looked like she felt like top dog for this.
Then it was coordinating together to get a campsite set up, which worked rather well. Maxine didn't sit on the sidelines waiting, but helped wherever possible, and Connor had experience with setting up campsites, so it ended up taking much less time and zero arguing between the two unlike many of the other campers. So they had time to walk the trails some before dusk and returned to the camp, ate a light supper and turned in.
Turning in, which really meant that Underdog was snoring at the foot of the sleeping bag and the two were staring up at the stars from the tent's open door rather than sleeping.
Finally Connor made an affirmative sound to himself. "Yeah, I missed this. You can't see the stars in the city like this. I always could at the Ashram."
"Mosquito repellent is working okay for you?" He'd brought stuff he'd actually made, which smelled much more minty with a eucalyptus bite then the chemical odor of Rid. He'd actually thought of all the essentials while keeping their equipment minimal. Well, except sunscreen, which hopefully Maxine remembered. He really didn't need it, since it took a bit to make him burn. He mostly just darkened considerably when out in the sun for a while.
