His words weren't having much of an effect on her, and there was pain in his eyes. Bruce had never felt anything like what he felt for Damian. Finding out he had a son had been a terrifying experience, and accompanied by an assortment of emotions too complex to properly name. Learning to be a father again had been, was a different experience from before. Damian was not the same as any of his other children, and required a different sort of attention, but Bruce would not have given up the experience.
However, he would not give up Dinah, either. The two would have to come to terms, because both were essential parts of his life. Bruce had no question that Dinah would adjust; it was just a matter of seeing that Damian grew up enough to do so. And to know his value to his father.
Bruce held Dinah against him, running a hand over her back and wishing there was something he could do to soothe her. "I'm not going to lose you," he whispered to her. "I'm not going to lose either of you."
He laughed, arms tightening around her as his head fell back. "Tattletale," he accused, fondly. Glancing at the burritos on the bench, he said, "Why don't I buy you a steak? And anything you want from the dessert menu," he enticed. His eyes were sparkling, but his attention was caught and his head turned to something across the street. "We've got company," he murmured.
