Who: Agent Coulson When: Wednesday, August 10th, 2016 Where: Brooklyn, NY What: Having a moment Rating: Lowish
Phil Coulson never took a day off. He rarely called out sick, and often worked overtime. There was very little that pulled him willingly away from SHIELD, the organization that had become his entire life.
But today, he had taken a vacation day, kind of. He'd requested to be in a certain place at a certain time, instead of where else he might be stationed.
The ceremony was brief, and moving, at least to Phil, anyway. A local marching band played a familiar song that Phil now knew by heart, and he couldn't stop himself from humming along.
And then, the main event, the large object hidden behind the curtain unveiled for all to see.
He couldn't help it, he straightened up, gaze lifting to the stalwart hero, now in statue form. It towered over the crowd, but not in a menacing way, instead in a way that emanated confidence, leadership and bravery. The crowd cheered ...
And Phil Coulson sniffled slightly, eyes blurring with tears of both joy and something else.
"Perfect," he murmured, voice hoarse. "An absolutely perfect tribute."
