It had been over a week since James had been taken from Bucharest. During that time, the doctors the Red Room and Department X still had worked on James to try and wipe the memories again from his mind. They hadn't been pleased to learn that with James having been out of stasis for so long, and the few protections he had gotten from SHIELD in that time, they couldn't fully wipe his mind to make him theirs again. But they were appeased by the fact the subliminal messages they had implanted still worked. They took the time to figure out which triggers worked still on James. The main one that had been used originally was the strongest.
Hearing footsteps, James looked up, heavily chained as he struggled to get free. But the words were spoken again and he felt his control slipping away. Emotionless eyes stared ahead as the main official walked into his line of sight. A file folder was handed to him and he took it, studying it and the contents, specifically the picture. Hearing the order of taking out the target, he just nodded and left to gear up and go.
Arriving at the location, he waited patiently, mask and goggles obscuring his face. After nearly an hour, he watched as a motorcade approached. Pushing his way out of the empty building, he walked uncaringly into the street, a weapon in hand. Stopping in the middle of the street he took aim and fired. The small disc shot out, skidded along the pavement before it leapt up onto the undercarriage and exploded, sending the limo careening up into the air before it landed on the roof. Tossing the gun aside, the Winter Soldier pulled out an assault rifle and easily shot at the body guards that were scrambling into place. Arriving at the limousine, he wrenched the door off and dragged out the former head of Department X and the Red Room. Pulling his Glock out, the assassin stared coldly at the main before emptying the clip into the man's chest. Two rounds went into the head for good measure before he turned and began leaving, not seeming to care about the spectators that were watching and filming him on their smartphones.
Mission complete, the Winter Soldier got on a waiting motorcycle and sped off, easily losing the police. Arriving back at the secret base a few hours later, he stood. As he was starting to be restrained, his senses slowly started returning. But before he could fight to get free he was fully restrained and forced to lay on a table. He tried to struggle but one of the doctors spoke a phrase and he passed out, falling limp.
