Arguing over who was allowed to do what to her body would have to wait for another time. While Maria's war path was expected, especially after Bruce poked fun at her, the blatant attack wasn't. She certainly didn't expect Maria to be so easily bribed; but she did consider her a friend and liked the idea that had come to her more and more in the seconds she'd thought it over- but it wasn't the discussion of motorcycles that had her drawing back as if she'd just been slapped.
"What's the point of even leaving the house?"
Dinah would be the first to admit that this had come on fast, that she was still adjusting- not just to the new direction their lives were taking and all that came with it; but to the sheer fact that many of the things she loved and had built her life on her were now off-limits. She flirted with boredom nearly every day; and while it was temporary state, it was a terrifying one nonetheless.
Maybe Hill's words hit too close to home because it was a struggle she was already concerned with-- but instead of sighing and letting it slide like she usually did with Hill's attacks, anger flushed her face.
"Well, I for one am thrilled at your ability to see me for who I am instead of just an incubator." She said sarcastically, rising from the arm of Bruce's chair. "I am more than just a baby factory, Maria. And fuck you for judging people who live and want different lives than you. You're in no place to cast stones at me."
She might have continued with her offer regarding her bike; but by this point she was hurt and she was anger-- and Bruce had, strangely enough, somehow become the good, tough love cop, which suited her mood just fine.
"Not everything's about you." Dinah chimed in as Bruce finished, and tactfully didn't mention that no one had actually asked for her opinion on the subject either, "With any luck, we're having a baby-- something that wasn't supposed to be possible-- no matter how much you bitch about it. And we're happy about it. And we'd like you to be happy for us-- happy that we're happy; because we're friends." She said, then amended to mirror Bruce's words, "Family."
At that she paused, then added much more quietly, "I'm due right around your birthday." Not that Maria really celebrated her birthday; but Dinah at least had thought it was an interesting coincidence that she had wanted to share with their friend.
From the sound of Maria's fit though, now might be the only chance she got before Maria went scurrying away self-righteously offended that they'd ganged up on her, again.
