Using Maria as a test subject had been Dinah's idea, and it wasn't a bad one. Clark had been easy, his reaction predictable. He remembered, though, how she had reacted to the news that Tony and Pepper were going to have a baby, and knew that she had very firm opinions on such things. Coming on the heels of their marriage, Maria was bound to give them a preview of what they might expect from at least some of their other friends and family members.
One in particular.
The secret itself was enough, and the encounter they'd had when she'd discovered his identity flitted through his mind as he came down the stairs, spotted her jacket draped over the newel post for Alfred to find, and sought out his wife and their guest in their usual place in the study.
"The one that was purchased at IKEA," he answered with the faintest hint of a smirk, nodding to the newly added chair draped with an elegant cover. It didn't match the Queen Anne wing backed chairs, but it didn't stick out like a sore thumb, either.
"Deputy Director," he said by way of greeting, sinking into his usual seat with a small smile aimed her way, although his eyes were thoughtful. "What would you like to drink?" He got up again, went to the bar. Without asking, he mixed something for Dinah and handed it to her without a word - juice with sparkling water.
