Who: Clint and OPEN to anyone in/at SHIELD What: Clint gets a new set of ears to try out (not literal ears, just fancy hi-tech hearing aids) Where: SHIELD base When: July 21
Clint studied the small devices in front of him that were on the tray. He reached out and picked one up, studying it curiously. "This little thing is gonna help me hear? I thought that they had to be all big and bulky..." He looked up at the doctor so he could see what was being said.
"This is the most advanced prototype we have. It should allow you to hear perfectly, as if..."
"There was no damage to my ears." Clint nodded and set it back on the tray. The doctor set it to the side and washed his hands before pulling on a pair of latex gloves. "It's...not gonna like, affect me in other ways given it's a prototype, right? Like, it's not gonna make me sterile or something yeah?"
The doctor blinked and turned to look at Clint. "Of course not!"
Clint grinned a bit and nodded. "Good. Alright...let's get my new ears in."
The doctor nodded and moved over, picking one of the hearing aids up and moved over to Clint's side. Carefully he inserted the right hearing aid before he moved back in front of Clint. "How does it feel?"
"Fits fine."
"Good, these were specifically molded to your ears and ear canal so no matter what you do they should stay in given your work. It's not a full guarantee that they will but it will take a lot of force to knock them out." He placed the other aid in and stepped back. "Okay Agent Barton, can you he-"
"If you finish that sentence I'll shove these where the sun don't shine," the archer threatened. "I hate that line." He closed his eyes. "Okay Doc, say something."
"How do you like them?"
A smile formed on Clint's face, his first genuine one since his accident. "So far so good." He opened his eyes and smiled gratefully at the doctor.
"Excellent. I still want you to take it slow with them, they are after all, prototypes. But spend the day walking around the base and let me know what you think of them and what improvements you think could be made."
"Well, maybe on the next set have built in translators so I know what people are saying in a foreign language?"
The doctor smiled. "That would actually require them to be big and bulky while allowing you to hear. At the moment but we can certainly look into it."
Clint nodded and hopped off the table before he headed for the door and began walking around the base, amazed at how well he could hear.
