It wasn't quite the beer or the burger that had her shoulders relaxing; she might be among people she was usually commanding in one form or another, but some of them she at least liked enough that it wasn't exactly a hardship to be around them outside work. Some of them were even friends, a rare and silvery concept.
"Y'know," Maria said as she accepted a chunk of watermelon from Dinah's plate, because it was offered, and extending her own with the chips angled towards Dinah because she too could share, "I can somehow see that with this group, without all that much alcohol being involved." Really, it wouldn't take much.
"Could say the same about yours," she added wryly, and took a sip of her beer. "I think he still had some things to take care of, but he generally likes celebrating the Fourth." She knew that if Phil did make an appearance, she would have her work cut out for her corralling him away from Captain Rogers.
"So, how are things?" she asked, a bland question that covered so much ground given she hadn't seen Dinah since that surprise wedding.
