Truly, Connor was a monk in many ways still. Things did not bring happiness, and he had no interest in having junk. Ollie and Mia had to press him to get more than a few outfits in his closet when he moved into the manor, and he wasn't an easy person to buy holiday and birthday presents for because he liked items that had specific purpose.
He looked side-long at Mia, hands in his pockets. "You really want me to get that, don't you." He sighed, reaching for it. "If it will make you happy." Which did show he had humor, because of course the idea was that it would make him happy, rather than Mia, and his smile showed that.
He didn't reach for the tiger, or the dragon, or the hawk... He picked up the small, heavy tortoise tea kettle. Squat, simple and rustically cute, and did truly look functional. He looked it over, then asked for price. Once debated, he paid, then shrugged sheepishly at Mia.
